He 'Whopped ' Girl, 5, 'And Hit Her Mom' After Child Heard Him On Phone With Another Woman: Prosecutors

JOLIET, IL — Amin Hudson, a 40-year-old Joliet with an animal cruelty conviction in his recent past, now finds himself facing child abuse allegations following this past weekend's incident at his Joliet apartment near McDonough Street. The Will County State's Attorney's Office filed charges of aggravated battery and two counts of domestic battery.

According to the petition to deny pretrial release for Hudson, at 5:07 p.m., Officer Shaughnessy of Joliet Police Department responded to an apartment building at 518 Bellarmine Drive, for domestic battery involving a child and an adult victim.

At the scene, the 32-year-old woman told the officer that when she was at work, her almost 6-year-old daughter told her how she heard her father, Amin Hudson, talking on the phone with another female, court files reflect.

The woman subsequently texted Hudson and asked him who he was talking to. When the woman arrived home at 4 p.m., Hudson was angry. The woman stated that Hudson's other daughter later told him that the 5-year-old had informed others about the phone conversation, court documents indicate.

At approximately 4:45 p.m., Hudson returned to the apartment and Hudson grabbed the 5-year-old by her shirt and struck her on the buttocks, prosecutors noted. That's when the 32-year-old woman intervened and told Hudson to stop.

She asked Hudson why he was hitting the girl and stated that he should not have been talking to another female around the child, prosecutors noted. At that moment, Hudson became angry and struck the 32-year-old woman on the right side of her head with his hand, causing pain to her ear, prosecutors outlined.

The adult victim "further stated Hudson flipped over a table, causing a glass to break. (She) told Hudson she was calling the police, at which time Hudson left the residence," court documents indicate.

After written statements were obtained for Joliet police, the 5-year-old girl "told officers the defendant whopped her and hit her and her mom. M.H. had a raised area/knot on the center of her forehead as a result of being struck. M.H. stated that her forehead hurt and her buttocks hurt from being struck by Hudson," court files show.

The woman who called Joliet police said that Hudson had been residing at 518 Bellarmine Drive, Apartment 7, and was currently on an ankle monitor with a 3 a.m. hour curfew.

In the summer of 2025, Joliet Patch ran another crime story on Amin Hudson headlined, "After Boy, 5, Shot By Another Child, 2 Members Of Hudson Family Are Put In Jail: Joliet PD."

Patch reported that another member of the Hudson family — 38-year-old Amin A. Hudson, 38, of Joliet was booked into the Will County Jail on an outstanding warrant for unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. Back in May of 2025, an 8-year-old child shot a 5-year-old child in the 500 block of Dover, according to Joliet police. Hudson's gun was responsible for that shooting, arrest reports show.

In time, Joliet's Tactical Officers were notified of an arrest warrant for Amin Hudson, a resident of the 500 block of Dover Street, where the shooting took place. He owned the gun used in the shooting of the 5-year-old victim, according to the Joliet police press release from last year.
