JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department continues to make more arrests near the McDonald's restaurant at 1515 W. Jefferson St., and this week's incident involved a 16-year-old victim and a 16-year-old male who was arrested.
According to police spokesman Dwayne English, at 7:14 p.m. on Monday, the officers responded to McDonald's at 1515 W. Jefferson St. for a battery incident.
A 16-year-old girl was walking with a group near Woodlawn Avenue when a 16-year-old male approached and made comments that caused her to feel uncomfortable, English said.
"During the encounter, it is alleged that the male knocked a bag of food from her hand and kicked her in the back as she walked away. The victim ran to McDonald's and called police," English announced.
She was evaluated by Joliet Fire Department paramedics at the scene. Officers later located the male juvenile suspect near West Jefferson Street and Woodlawn Avenue. He was taken into custody and charged with battery. The male was transported to the River Valley Justice Center.
