JOLIET, IL — Whenever one bar-restaurant in Joliet closes, a new one appears almost overnight. Just weeks after Joliet Patch reported on the demise of the Azul Celeste Mexican Bar and Grill at 307 North Chicago Street, the Joliet City Council is now ready to review a new establishment at Monday night's meeting.
This week's Council agenda calls for the recommended approval of a Class B liquor license for the new bar and restaurant called Picanha y Fuego Colombian Bar and Grill.
According to the Council agenda, "the subject business is a new bar and grill located in the commercial building at 307 N. Chicago Street. The space was previously occupied by Azul Celeste Bar and Grill. The property is zoned central business which permits restaurants and bar with the sale of on-premises consumption of liquor. The property is located within Joliet's City Center and is surrounded by commercial uses including government offices, professional offices and an auto repair business ... Joliet Police Department does not foresee any special law enforcement problems associated with the issuance of this liquor license."
