JOLIET, IL — A familiar name and face to the Joliet police force, 47-year-old Jason Bingham, was arrested over the weekend at St. Joe's Hospital's Emergency Room where he engaged in violent behavior trying to harm several of the staff, according to the arrest reports.

English said that Bingham had been transported to the hospital by the Joliet Fire Department earlier that day. Hospital staff reported that Bingham had repeatedly attempted to bite and spit on staff during treatment, English revealed.

Upon further investigation, officers learned that Bingham allegedly elbowed a female nurse in the face while she attempted to assist him. It was also alleged that Bingham then raised a clenched fist and threatened the nurse as she left the room, English announced.

Bingham was placed into custody without incident. He was charged with aggravated battery to a nurse and aggravated assault to a nurse. He was processed at the Joliet Police
Department and released on a Notice to Appear in court.

Bingham spent three days in the Will County jail in June and then he was jailed last Christmas and kept in the jail until late March of this year.
