JOLIET, IL — People from all over the Joliet area came out in droves, carrying signs and wearing homemade costumes as they participated in Saturday's No Kings Get Out The Vote demonstration from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. outside the entrance to the Louis Joliet Mall. Everyone gathered along Plainfield Road/Route 30 and the number of cars and trucks that honked in agreement with their signs was constant.

As the region's largest and most read news site, Joliet Patch's editor was on hand to produce a handful of livestream videos including one with superhero Captain America, otherwise known as Isaac, a Joliet Junior College student.

"This is a peaceful, patriotic, family friendly rally, to express your dissatisfaction with the way things are now, Trump, his administration, and, turn that dissatisfaction into Democratic Votes, on November 3rd or Early Voting starting, October 17th," organizer John Dzak had told Joliet Patch weeks before the event. "Attend! Volunteer! Vote Early!! Wear bright yellow! Bring a poster with your feelings about Trump!! Let's restore checks and balance and accountability to our government!!

"You can, Sing! Chant! Wave American Flags! and, Posters! Stand! Sit! Either is fine. We will not be marching! LET'S HAVE A GREAT RALLY!!!!"

Here's a collection of photos Joliet Patch took during Saturday's Oct. 17 rally. Which ones are your favorites?
