Fall is putting on quite a show in the Will County forest preserves these days. Have you captured any of the season's colorful landscapes, wildlife encounters or other picture-perfect moments?
Make sure to submit your photos to the Forest Preserve District's October Preserve the Moment photo contest. The winner of the October contest will receive a $75 Mastercard gift card and be eligible for top honors in January. The overall winner, selected by public vote in January, will receive a $500 gift card; second place, $250; and third place, $150.
Photos submitted for the contest must be taken in a Will County forest preserve. Entries for the October contest must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. Individuals can submit up to five photos in each monthly installment of the contest.
Winning photos in previous monthly contests this year have included a gull on a rainy day at Whalon Lake; a rare snowy egret at McKinley Woods; a pollen-covered bumble bee at Isle a la Cache; and the sun rising over a carpet of Virginia bluebells at O'Hara Woods Preserve.
