JOLIET, IL — When it comes to Halloween and Joliet, you never know what is going to happen. Joliet police announced the arrest of 40-year-old Deshauwn King of Joliet in connection with several felony charges that have landed him in the Will County jail.
According to police spokesman Dwayne English, at 2:14 a.m. on Halloween, the officers responded to Riverwalk Homes, 362 N. Broadway St., for a report of a man with a gun. Upon arrival, he said the officers located a man matching the suspect's description in the rear parking lot and identified
him as Deshauwn King.
During a search of King, officers recovered a loaded 9mm handgun with an extended magazine from his waistband, English said. The handgun appeared to have a defaced serial number. Officers also recovered suspected crack cocaine from his pocket after he disclosed that he was carrying drugs, police said.
According to English, officers determined that King did not possess a valid Firearm Owner's Identification card or concealed carry license. King was taken into custody without incident, the arrest report noted.
King was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, defacing identification marks of a firearm, no FOID, possession of a controlled
substance and criminal trespass to state-supported property.
He was processed at the Joliet Police Department and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
