Guy W. Shelley
Guy W. Shelley, passed away peacefully at the age of 72 on Monday, November 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Guy was born in Joliet, Illinois, on November 7, 1953, the son of the late John and Marilyn (nee Sumbaum) Shelley.
Guy enjoyed a lifelong and rewarding career teaching music to students throughout the Bolingbrook area. Music was not only his profession, but also his passion, which he shared with his beloved wife. Together they played in a wedding band called "Straight No Chaser" later performed at local bars as members of "Genr8torX". Guy also cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him endless joy. He found great fulfillment in working on recording projects at Earwax, at his son Robin's home and was proud to have recorded two or three albums throughout his musical journey.
Guy is survived by his loving wife, Donna; children, Robin (Eileen) Knapik, Jay Knapik, and Ginger (Jeff) Scott; grandchildren, Alex, Ian, Cameron, and Joey; and sister, Amber (Tom) Dennison.
He was preceded in death by his son, Guy Jr., and grandson, Danny Sealey.
Funeral Services for Guy W. Shelley will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park II. Visitation will be held at the funeral home chapel on Monday, November 9, 2026, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Guys name to Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care.
