Michael Kozlowski Obituary

Michael J. Kozlowski, Age 92, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2012 at Rosewood Care Center. He was born on March 3, 1920 in Joliet.

Preceded in death by his wife Angela (nee Vershay) (2004); daughter, Marie Kozlowski, parents Lottie (nee Gradowski) and Michael Kozlowski; and his brothers, Frank, Max, Raymond and Charles Kozlowski.

Survived by his daughter, Virginia "Jean" (Joe) Stukel; granddaughter, Polly (Thomas) Pondel; grandson, Douglas (Dina) Stukel; 3 great-grandchildren, Susan Pondel, Shaw and Beck Stukel; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Michael graduated from Joliet Catholic High School in 1939. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and retired from Texaco in 1981. He was an active member of the Moran AC, American Legion Post 1080, Joliet Moose, St. Joseph's Holy Name Society and St. Joseph Seniors. Michael was an avid pigeon flyer and was known as "Iron Mike".

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Michael's name to Joliet Area Community Hospice.

A celebration of Michael's life will begin on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 9:30 am with prayers at Tezak's Home to Celebrate Life, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet, then in procession to St. Joseph Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, Joliet. Visitation will be Saturday morning from 8:30 am until the time of prayers at the funeral home.
