Anthony "Tony" King, 77, Born In Ireland, Lived In Joliet Most Of Life
His love of travel took him and his family on many wonderful trips in the U.S. and Europe.

“Tony”
Age 77, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on Sunday, July 10,
2022, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Teresa “Terri“ (Wilhelmi) King; his loving son
Anthony J. King, Jr, Brother-in-laws Joseph R. (Cathy) Wilhelmi, Chris (Ann Marie
deceased) Wilhelmi, Tom (Angie deceased) Wilhelmi. Niece Lisa (Marc) Judnick; their
children Gregory and Noelle. Nephew Joseph (Cheryl) Wilhelmi and their son Carter.
Niece Jessica Wilhelmi and her daugters Maecyn and Hadley. Nieces Rachel and Sophia
Wilhelmi. His very close cousin John Durkin, and the Durkin family local and abroad.
Close friends Jose Garcia, Joe & Bonnie Dressar, Neighbors Marty & Cathy Lepacek and
Sherri & Mike Kirincich. Numerous other cousins and friends also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Kathleen (Durcan) King.

Born in the Durcan home in Aclare, Tubbercurry, County Sligo, Ireland, living in the Joliet
area most of his adult life. U.S. Army Veteran 1966-1968, serving in Korea during the
Vietnam War. Tony graduated from Leo High School in Chicago in 1963. He obtained his
Bachelor’s Degree from Lewis University, Master’s Degree from Governors State
University. Retired from the Valley View School District 365U after 32 years of teaching.
Past member of the V.F.W. Post #12059 Plainfield. Member of the Knights of Columbus
Council # 12863, Channahon, Illinois. and St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Tony
was an avid reader and was a member of the Joliet Library Book Club. His passion was
gardening, evident by the vegetables and gorgeous flower beds he grew in his yard. His
love of travel took him and his family on many wonderful trips in the U.S. and Europe.
Special thanks to all the staff of Lightways Hospice, Joliet, especially his dedicated team;
his nurse Holly W., Debbie M., Social Worker, Rebecca L., Chaplain, and Ashley U., CNA,
for the kind and compassionate care they provided to Tony over the past months.

Tony’s CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Saturday, July 16,
2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Crest Hill, Illinois. Visitation Saturday
morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Interment at a later date will
be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery
