Attack Outside Johnny's Bar: Senior Citizen Falls To The Ground: JPD

When the victim urged Kimberly Ledwell to leave, she struck him in the back of the head, causing him to fall to the ground, police said.

JOLIET, IL — A 38-year-old Joliet woman is now in the Will County Jail after Joliet police say she attacked a 70-year-old relative outside Johnny's Bar on North Hickory Street, shoving the man to the ground late Tuesday night.

Joliet police say Kimberly Ledwell was later captured at the BP gas station at the corner of McDonough and South Chicago Street. She's now in the Will County Jail, facing charges of aggravated battery and domestic battery.

Around 11 p.m., Joliet police were sent to the 900 block of Fisk Avenue where a man reported a domestic battery that happened earlier, outside of Johnny’s Bar, 1008 Hickory St.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, the victim left the bar and found Ledwell arguing with neighbors of the bar. When the victim urged Ledwell to leave, she struck him in the back of the head, causing him to fall to the ground and become disoriented.

Ledwell, the victim, and Ledwell’s friend then drove together to the area of Morgan Street and Center Street where Ledwell and the friend got out.

The victim drove home to the 900 block of Fisk Avenue and contacted 911, English noted.

Around 1:10 p.m., Joliet police spotted Ledwell at the BP gas station, and she was arrested.

"During processing, Ledwell began repeatedly striking her head against a wall, injuring her head," English said.

Ledwell was taken by Joliet Fire Department ambulance to the Ascension St Joseph Medical Center, and she was released from the hospital a short time later. A resident of the 900 block of Fisk Avenue, Ledwell got booked into the county jail at 5:37 a.m. Wednesday.
