Bald Man Came To Joliet To Steal Wig From Larkin Avenue's Sky Beauty Wig: Joliet Police

JOLIET, IL — A 59-year-old Plainfield man is now the subject of a criminal complaint and an arrest warrant from the Joliet Police Department in connection with a retail theft that happened on New Year's Eve. According to the complaint, Darnell Payne, after previously being convicted of residential burglary back in 2012 in Cook County, knowingly took possession of merchandise offered for sale in the Sky Beauty and Wig store at 1370 N. Larkin Ave. in Joliet.

The complaint alleges that the item Payne stole was a wig, and he took the merchandise on Dec. 31 intending to keep it without paying the full retail value.

According to last week's arrest warrant issued by Will County Judge Tom Slayzk, Payne lives in the 0 to 50 block of Plainfield's Dan Ireland Drive, and he is to be held without release and brought before the court for a pretrial detention or conditions of release hearing.

Payne has been kept in the Will County Jail on four different occasions since July 2024.
