Bam's Laundry Burglary Solved By Joliet Police Department: Burglar Stole At Least 400 Quarters

The manager discovered damage to the maintenance room door, missing keys and disturbed tools, according to Joliet police.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department has announced last week's capture of 38-year-old Mark Pierce of Rowell Avenue in connection with a late February burglary to a laundromat business on the city's east side near Briggs Street.

According to police spokesman Dwayne English, on February 26, at 4:41 p.m., the officers responded to Bam’s Laundry, 1518 E. Washington St., for a past tense burglary.

The manager reported the business had been burglarized earlier that morning. The manager discovered damage to the maintenance room door, missing keys and disturbed tools.
Surveillance footage showed a suspect entering the business carrying tools. The suspect was believed to have forced entry into the maintenance room, damaged the door, stolen multiple
keys and used one of the keys to access a change machine, taking approximately $100 in quarters, English said.

Officers canvassed the area but were unable to locate a suspect at that time.

During the investigation, English said that the detectives identified the suspect as Mark Pierce. Pierce was taken into custody following a traffic stop on March 31 at approximately 4:48 p.m.

He was charged with burglary, criminal damage to property, and possession of burglary tools. Pierce was processed at the Joliet Police Department and transported to the Will County
Adult Detention Facility.

After spending three days in the Will County Jail last week, Pierce was set free.
