JOLIET, IL — A 37-year-old Joliet man was arrested Monday afternoon near the stairwell for the Rialto Square Theatre moments after being pepper-sprayed by a bank security guard across the street. According to Joliet police, Anthony Dunn, had been touching the hand of a woman who worked inside the BMO Harris Bank, and Dunn refused to stop his behavior.

Joliet police arrested Dunn on charges of criminal trespass to property and disorderly conduct.

Joliet officers were called to the BMO Harris Bank, 78 North Chicago St., shortly before noon on Monday for a disturbance.

"Officers learned that a security guard was notified by a bank employee that Dunn had reached under a plexiglass partition and began rubbing the hand of the female employee," police reports show. "The employee advised him to stop his behavior at which time he walked around the partition and grabbed her arm."

The downtown Joliet bank's security guard intervened and told Dunn to leave the bank, police reports show. But Dunn did not leave the premises, he went to the outside automatic teller machine and then returned to the bank.

"He entered the bank again and resumed yelling at the security guard, who then deployed pepper spray at Dunn," Joliet police stated.

After Dunn left the bank again, he began running away as the Joliet police cars pulled up to the scene, authorities noted.

"Dunn fled on foot and attempted to hide in an exterior stairwell behind the Rialto Square Theatre. Officers approached Dunn and placed him into custody without incident," police reports show.

Because both charges are misdemeanors, Dunn was later released on an I-bond.
