Basement Attack Puts Victim In Chokehold, Joliet Police Capture Defendant After Traffic Stop
Joliet police obtained a warrant to charge Jefferson with aggravated domestic battery, domestic battery, and disorderly conduct.

JOLIET, IL — Jonathan Jefferson, a 46-year-old Joliet man who comes from the 600 block of Glenwood Avenue, has been freed from the Will County Jail following this week's Joliet police arrest on charges of aggravated domestic battery, domestic battery and disorderly conduct.
According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, the original attack happened three weeks ago.
On February 6, at 2:48 p.m., officers responded to the front desk of the Joliet Police Department for a domestic battery complaint. A man reported to officers he was attacked by his brother in their home in the 0-50 block of Manor Court on February 5, at approximately 8 p.m.

"It is alleged that Jonathan Jefferson entered the victim’s basement bedroom and began to choke him," English announced. "Following this altercation, the victim went upstairs at which time Jefferson is accused of placing the victim in a chokehold. Other family members intervened, and Jefferson left the home. Officers were unable to locate Jefferson at the time."
This past Wednesday, English said the detectives obtained a warrant to arrest Jefferson and Jefferson was taken into custody without incident following a traffic stop at 4:48 p.m. He was processed at
the Joliet Police Department and transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.

Jail logs indicate that Jefferson was released at 5:17 p.m. on Thursday.
