Joliet's Marijuana Workers Form Union: Crain's
Cresco Labs is a marijuana production facility located in Joliet.

JOLIET, IL — Crain's Chicago Business has reported that the employees who work in Joliet at Cresco Labs, a marijuana production facility, voted in favor of unionization by a vote of 58 to 32 on Tuesday.
On Monday, Patch reported that Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders weighed in on Twitter Monday afternoon regarding possible unionization for the Joliet employees at Cresco Labs. Cresco is a large marijuana production facility that has more than 100 employees.

An article published Monday by Crain's Chicago Business noted that about 100 of the 130 Cresco Labs workers will be able to vote whether to join the United Food & Commercial Workers union.

On Jan. 1, recreational marijuana became legal across Illinois. In Will County, the city of Joliet currently has two businesses affiliated with the 3C Compassionate Care Center that now have licenses to sell recreational cannabis. However, both cannabis stores in Joliet are not affiliated with Cresco, representatives said.
