Big Businesses Leasing Big Warehouses Near Joliet
Samsung and Ikea have leased around 800,000 sq. ft. in the CenterPoint Intermodal Center.

JOLIET, IL — Some big names are leasing some big warehouses near Joliet.
While it’s already known that Ikea is constructing a warehouse that should become operational in 2018, the business is leasing 415,800 sq. ft. in the CenterPoint Intermodal Center for two years with an option for a one-year extension, according to Crain’s Chicago Business.
“The new space, as well as an 849,691-square-foot warehouse in Minooka, will be used as distribution centers” until the new warehouse opens, according to the report. Ikea also reportedly plans to build a second warehouse.

Samsung has leased 383,493 sq. ft. in CenterPoint, according to the article.
With access to the BNSF and Union Pacific Railroad lines, CenterPoint is “a hub for moving products in and out of the Chicago area, and throughout the country,” Crain's said.

In July, Gov. Bruce Rauner announced construction of a new Houbolt Road bridge linking Interstate 80 and intermodal facilities.
