Bingo Ball Will Determine Plainfield Election Winner

Candidate that chooses ball No. 1 will win election.

“I don’t know what I could’ve done differently to get me one more vote,” said Wojowski, also a New Lenox police officer, after the results were read. “Win or lose with the bingo ball, I met a lot of great people in Plainfield.”

The drawing will be held at 9 a.m. at the Will County office building at 302 N. Chicago St. in Joliet. The bingo balls will be numbered one and two. The candidate that chooses ball one will be declared the winner.

Will County Clerk Nancy Schultz Voots said in the article that this is not the first time an election had to be decided by picking a bingo ball. It happened twice before, actually. Once in 2009 and again in 2013.

“Voter turnout was low,” Schultz Voots said of April 7’s election. About 15 percent of registered voters turned out to cast ballots. “Anytime you have a low turnout, you have close races.”
