Body Of Harley Rider Carl Gordon Recovered: Family Announces

Carl Gordon had disappeared after last being seen about three weeks ago at a motorcycle garage on Joliet's Ruby Street.

JOLIET, IL — The body of Carl Gordon, a 35-year-old motorcycle rider who vanished May 29 after visiting a Joliet building to get his new Harley-Davidson motorcycle repaired, was recovered from the Little Calumet River in Blue Island, family members announced Friday night.

Gordon's body was found Thursday night, relatives posted on Facebook. Gordon lived in the Rockford area, but he had been visiting Joliet for several hours before he vanished.

"This is an active investigation, and we cannot answer any questions at this time," relatives wrote on Facebook. "Please pray for the family, respect their privacy and give them time to grieve."

Gordon purchased his Harley at a building on Ruby Street across from St. John the Baptist Cemetery.

The investigation into Gordon's whereabouts had turned up no activity on his credit cards or bank account since Friday, May 29, when Gordon was last seen in Joliet.

Gordon lived in Belvedere and the Boone County Sheriff's Office was the lead agency investigating his disappearance.
