Boy, 14, Charged In Friday's East-Side Shooting

JOLIET, IL - The Joliet Police Department has made an arrest in Friday afternoon's shooting near Cass Street that left a 20-year-old Rockdale man facing life-threatening injuries. A 14-year-old Joliet boy was charged with aggravated battery with a gun and aggravated unlawful use of a gun. The juvenile was booked into the River Valley Detention Center on McDonough Street, police said.
The victim, who was shot in the shot neck and the thigh, was later transferred from St. Joe's hospital to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.
According to Joliet Police, officers fielded a report of several juveniles being outside fighting in the 100 block of Casseday Avenue, near Cass Street.

"As officers were en route to the call, they were advised that multiple shots were reported for the same call with an individual shot. Upon arrival officers located a victim with multiple gunshot wounds laying on the ground," police reports show.
At the scene, officers and several detectives conducted a number of interviews with eyewitnesses. Police learned that during the fight, one of the juveniles pulled out a gun and began shooting.

"After an extensive investigation, detectives were able to identify and locate the person responsible for the shooting," Joliet Police reports state.
