Braidwood Woman Had Crack Pipe, Heroin In Joliet: Police
The 29-year-old Braidwood resident was arrested on Joliet's east side.

JOLIET, IL - A 29-year-old Braidwood woman who has had an extensive criminal record in recent years at the Will County Courthouse finds herself back in trouble with the courts again. On Friday night, Joliet Police officers arrested Kiley Murphy for having both heroin and crack cocaine on Joliet's southeast side, near Eastern and 4th Avenues, the police said.
Murphy was put in handcuffs and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug equipment, possession of hypodermic needles, and Murphy also had an active warrant for her arrest issued by the Illinois Department of Corrections for a parole violation.
Joliet Police said that officers on patrol saw a car blow a stop light near Eastern and 4th Avenue around 9:15 p.m. and that prompted them to activate their squad car's sirens and pull the car over. Murphy was a passenger when the car was stopped near 4th Avenue and Sherman Street, police records indicate.

"As one of the officers made contact with the passenger, he noticed a metallic pipe with burn marks, commonly used to smoke crack cocaine sitting on her lap," police reports state. "The front passenger of the vehicle was identified as Murphy. A routine check of Murphy showed her to have an active IDOC parole violation warrant."
During the search of the car, Joliet Police found illicit drugs, their reports show.

"Officers located hypodermic needles, a metallic spoon with residue, and a metallic rod. A search of Murphy was conducted, and officers located two small clear bags of heroin inside Murphy's pocket. Murphy was taken into custody for the warrant and above listed offenses," Joliet Police said.
Although the Joliet Police Department identifies Murphy as a Braidwood resident, her new criminal case at the courthouse indicates she resides in the 1000 block of Joliet's Midland Avenue.
When she returns there remains to be seen.
A Will County judge set her bail at $300,0000. In 2017, Murphy pleaded guilty to a felony drug charge, also from Will County, court records show.
She was also charged on two separate occasions in 2016 with possession of controlled substances, court documents state. Murphy also had retail theft charges in 2013 and 2017.
