Brandon Road Bridge Closure: Nobody Knows When It Will Open

ROCKDALE, IL — Less than a week into 2020 and the Brandon Road Bridge near Joliet is already shut down for its latest mechanical failure.

The Illinois Department of Transportation issued a press release Monday indicating that state officials are not ready to give a time frame on how long the latest bridge closure will inconvenience Joliet area motorists.

"The evaluation of the necessary repairs is ongoing. A more definitive timeline for when the bridge can reopen will be announced later," state transportation officials announced.

As an alternative, motorists should use Joliet's McDonough Street Bridge, the DOT advised.
