Brandon Road Bridge No Longer Broken

On Friday morning, traffic was using the Brandon Road Bridge once again in Rockdale.

ROCKDALE, IL — The last time the Brandon Road Bridge broke, in January 2020, it remained closed for the next 15 months. After breaking down this past weekend, mechanical repairs by the Illinois Department of Transportation were swift.

On Friday morning, the orange detour signs near Route 6 and Brandon Road were gone.

Joliet Patch saw cars and trucks safely traveling over the Brandon Road around 11 a.m. The bridge is fixed. We can all rejoice.

As thousands of Joliet area motorists know, the Brandon Road Bridge has broken down and been out of service for extended periods of time on several occasions during the past five years.
