Brandon Road Bridge Repairs in Joliet to Start Oct. 12

The project will be complete by Friday, Oct. 16.

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced that the Brandon Road bridge over the Des Plaines River, in Joliet, will be closed to perform scheduled electrical repairs beginning, weather permitting, Monday, Oct. 12.

In order to complete the work, a detour will be posted. Northbound traffic will detour east on Laraway Road, north on Illinois 53, west on McDonough Street (U.S. 52) and southwest on U.S. 6 to Brandon Road. Southbound traffic will follow the reverse route. Marine traffic will not be affected by the closure.

The project will be complete by Friday, Oct. 16.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
