Brass Knuckle Punches Thrown, Knife Displayed During Fight With Family Member: Joliet Police

Police also allege that 62-year-old Jerry Lee Jones attempted to stab the victim with a pocketknife.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department arrested a 62-year-old man from the city's southeast side following a fight outside the man's residence over the weekend. Jerry Lee Jones was charged with aggravated battery, aggravated assault, unlawful use of a weapon and domestic battery.

According to police spokesman Dwayne English, at 4:19 p.m. Saturday, the officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of South Joliet Street for a disturbance.

During an argument inside the residence, Jones challenged his adult nephew to fight outside, English noted.

"During the altercation, Jones allegedly attempted to
punch his nephew while wearing brass knuckles and struck him multiple times in the abdomen. It is further alleged that Jones attempted to stab the victim with a pocketknife," English said.

He said Jones was found at the scene and taken into custody without incident. Afterward, Jones was processed at the Joliet Police Department and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.

This marks the fourth time that Jones has been locked up in the Will County Jail in recent history. He was also jailed last March, as well as March 2023 and December 2017.

Jones resides in the 500 block of South Joliet Street.
