Brown's Chicken Returns To Joliet: Corn Fritters, Gizzards, Livers, Mushrooms, Okra And More

JOLIET, IL — There is positive economic development to report from Joliet's southeast side to open 2026. Joliet has regained a Brown's Chicken fast-food restaurant after the location on South Larkin Avenue went out of business and is now permanently closed. Back in 2020, Joliet Patch produced a fast-food restaurant review of the Brown's Chicken at 18 S. Larkin Ave.

This marks the first week of business for the new Brown's Chicken location at 410 S. Chicago St., next door to the Dunkin' restaurant. Joliet's new Brown's is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The phone number for the new restaurant is 779-206-4807.

"From humble beginnings in 1949 when John and Belva Brown opened their first location in a trailer at 80th and Harlem in Bridgeview, the company’s pursuit of chicken that truly tastes better continues in a new era," the Brown's Chicken website reads. "With over 21 stores in the Chicagoland market, Brown’s Chicken boasts a style of chicken all our own. The recipe cooked up by John and Belva uses buttermilk batter with cottonseed oil, delivering a delicious golden crunch on the outside with a moist and flavorful inside."

Joliet City Councilwoman Suzanna Ibarra, who represents District 5, told Joliet Patch that she was happy to see the Brown's Chicken open for business in her district.

"Brown's Chicken will be a great addition to that corner," Ibarra remarked. "Family friendly business. Love it. We welcome them. Just what the neighborhood has been asking for, family friendly business."

According to the menu, customers can also order online and deliveries are handled by Uber Eats, DoorDash and Grubhub.

The menu includes a two-piece chicken meal, a three-piece chicken meal, three whole wings, two jumbo tenders or three jumbo tenders. For sandwiches, the Brown's Chicken has a jumbo chicken sandwich, Parmesan chicken, bacon ranch club, Maxwell Street Polish, a hot dog, Italian beef and meatball sandwich.

You can also order mushrooms, okra, gizzards, livers and chicken chunks. There are seafood dinners consisting of catfish fillets, catfish sandwiches or shrimp. And there's also the Brown's Chicken Special known as the Mr. Brown's Special: it's 10 pieces of chicken or tenders, two large sides, four biscuits and 1/2 pound of mushrooms or 12 fritters for $42.99.

The Brown's Chicken fills the vacancy created by the 2025 departure of the Carnitas Aguascalientes #2. In August 2024, the Chicago Ridge-based Mexican restaurant expanded into Joliet, giving it two locations. The Joliet restaurant went out of business at some point in 2025.
