Brunch Returns to Renaissance Center

After a 10 year hiatus, brunch has returned to the downtown location.

At one time, the Renaissance Center was the place to go for Sunday brunch. But, in 2002, the center in downtown stopped serving brunch.

"The economy brought it down at that time," Renaissance Center Wedding and Event Planner Susan Stockwell said.

But, the idea of going to brunch is back in vogue and the Renaissance Center is taking advantage of the shift.

"I would say that brunches went away; I would say brunches are back now," Stockwell said.

The center is hosting brunch once a month for now, although it may be expanded. In addition, the center hosts special event brunches.

"We're going to start off slow," Stockwell said.

In addition to being open to the public, the center has a special offer for churches who may want to bring their entire congregation downtown for brunch. If they reserve the brunch date four weeks in advance, they can use the side room and the center will waive the room rental fee.

Brunch is $12.95 for adults, $10.95 for children 12 and under. Children 3 and under are free. Brunch takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The next brunch is scheduled for Aug. 26, with a special event brunch in honor of Grandparents' Day on Sept. 9. For more information, visit the JJC Web site.
