Buell Avenue Man Faces Burglary Charges, High Bail

Joliet police officers arrested 27-year-old Joliet resident Jason Drexel on three criminal charges.

JOLIET, IL — A Will County judge recently set bail at $500,000 for a 27-year-old Joliet resident charged in connection with a residential burglary in late June. The Joliet Police Department arrested Jason Drexel on June 27 in connection with a burglary in the 2200 block of Douglas Street, court records indicate.

At the time of the crime, Drexel entered the resident's house intending to commit a theft, according to the criminal complaint. Drexel, who lives in the 700 block of Buell Avenue, was also charged with criminal trespass to a residence and criminal damage to property.

The complaint indicates that Drexel knew or had reason to know that one or more people were home at the time of the burglary. Drexel's actions also damaged a screen to a basement window but the damage to did not exceed $500, the complaint states.

Drexel remained in the Will County Jail on July 10. He needs to post 10 percent of his $500,000 bail in order to regain his freedom while his charges are pending.
