Burger Rebellion Fails At Crest Hill Location

Last year, Dale Lewis said the restaurant Burger Rebellion is a similar concept to Crusades Burger Bar in Yorkville.

After opening in Crest Hill in January 2021, Dale Lewis' Burger Rebellion restaurant has gone out of business. Several of his most recent Google Reviews were terrible.

CREST HILL —Burger Rebellion opened Jan. 25, 2021, near the corner of Renwick Road and Weber Road during the coronavirus pandemic, but its run in Crest Hill has ended on a down note. Restaurant owner Dale Lewis has closed up his Burger Rebellion restaurant, which he said last summer was a similar concept to the Crusade Burger in Yorkville.

Burger Rebellion had 536 Google Reviews, showing a rating of 4.1 stars out of 5. However, in the weeks leading up to its permanent closing, a number of people didn't have flattering comments to make about Burger Rebellion.

One woman posted a two-star review two days ago.

"Service was friendly, but bathrooms and windows were very dirty, paper towel dispenser did not work, and the food was overpriced and not that great."

A man posted a one-star review six days ago, saying his family went there for his wife's birthday and spent $175.

"Ordered 4 burgers, 2 of them medium rare and the other 2 medium. Well, all 4 came out well done. One of the burgers was supposed to have the Mac and cheese patty ... but when it came out it was just Mac and cheese on top. They didn't tell us they didn't have the patty."

A second man posted a one-star review a week ago, stating, "Didn't have beer, didn't have dressing for salad, didn't have tomato for burger. I know I'm missing some other things they didn't have! Was a complete joke. Poor waitress has to sit there and say we don't have that right now. No wonder place was dead at 5 p.m. when we went in to eat for my daughter's birthday. We were the only people there. I highly do not recommend this place. Wish I could give a zero!!!"

During his 2021 interview with a Patch correspondent, Lewis said the restaurant Burger Rebellion is a similar concept to Crusades Burger Bar in Yorkville, in which the Lewises were formerly partners.

Burger Rebellion offered elaborate shakes and burgers with ingredients that are out of the box.

Last July, the featured shake was Sweet Child O'Lime, which included a key lime pie slice and a lime Kit Kat. The burger of the week was The Italian Stallion, which includes marinara, salami, mozzarella and pesto.

Now, the only thing left of Burger Rebellion is an empty building space along Renwick Road.
