Bus Drivers Strike Looms For District 86 Students?

There is a possibility of a bus driver strike with First Student buses, Joliet School District 86 Superintendent Theresa Rouse announced.

"We understand your frustration with the news we shared about the possibility of a First Student Bus Driver strike. We were not aware of this unfortunate situation until this afternoon as well," District 86 announced Sunday.

JOLIET, IL — Joliet Public School District 86 announced on social media that there is a possibility of a bus driver strike with First Student buses and the strike may impact the availability of student buses later this week.

"Please be prepared to transport your children to/from school this week in case buses are not available. We encourage families to consider carpooling if necessary." District 86 Superintendent Theresa Rouse announced on her school district's Facebook page.

She noted that only First Student buses are impacted by this possible strike.

"This does not impact Grand Prairie buses. Grand Prairie Transit is a separate company and not related to First Student," Rouse announced. "The situation is ever-changing ... Our apologies for any inconvenience this situation may cause. We will do everything possible to support you and your family during this time."
