Cadillac Drives Through Joliet Red Light, Felony DUI Arrest: JPD

Joliet police officers recovered suspected MDMA and cannabis from 49-year-old Bolingbrook resident Edmundo Castillo, arrest logs show.

JOLIET, IL — A 49-year-old Bolingbrook motorist who was passing through Joliet's east side now faces multiple felony charges after Joliet police say he was too drunk to be driving.

Edmundo Castillo was taken away in handcuffs and brought to the police station, arrested and given a notice to appear at the Will County Courthouse on two counts of aggravated DUI, three counts of DUI, possession of controlled substances and aggravated driving while license revoked.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, the following events led to the Bolingbrook man's arrest on Dec. 29, which was Friday night.

  • At 11:20 p.m., officers stopped a Cadillac STS in the 100 block of Akin Avenue for disregarding a stoplight. While speaking to Castillo, officers noticed behaviors consistent with alcohol impairment.
  • An unopened alcohol container and cannabis paraphernalia were spotted in the vehicle. Officers made Castillo exit and upon searching Castillo, officers recovered suspected MDMA and cannabis. MDMA is also known Ecstasy.
  • English said that Castillo refused to perform field sobriety tests, and he was placed into custody without incident. Castillo was also cited for Improper Stop, Driving While License Revoked, and Possession of Cannabis by Driver. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
