Brawl At Plainfield South, 4 Students Arrested: JPD

Plainfield South High School's fist fight broke out in the cafeteria over the lunch hour on Friday. Two students now face felonies.

JOLIET, IL — Joliet police say a total of four Plainfield South High School students got arrested Friday afternoon after a fist fight in the cafeteria broke out, a fight that left a 50-year-old staff member injured when the brawlers attacked her.

Joliet police said one 15-year-old boy from Plainfield South is now being housed at the Kane County Juvenile Detention Center on charges of mob action, aggravated battery, disorderly conduct and marijuana possession.

Two more 15-year-old Plainfield South boys and one 14-year-old boy were arrested and released to their parents on charges of mob action, aggravated battery and disorderly conduct.

The Plainfield South violence broke out around 12:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.

A 15-year-old boy attacked a 17-year-old boy,"striking him numerous times in the face with a closed fist, causing the victim to fall to the ground."

Another 17-year-old student tried to defend the victim "at which time three additional juvenile suspects, 15, 15, and 14 began striking this victim about the head and body numerous times.

As two Plainfield South campus monitors attempted to intervene, a 50-year-old woman was hit in the head and her neck several times, police said. When the fight was stopped, Joliet police arrested four juveniles, three 15-year-olds and one 14-year-old.

"Upon search of one of the 15- year-old juveniles, a cannabis vape was recovered," English said.
