Captured: Joliet Man Charged In DUI Pedestrian Fatality
Joliet resident Alex Dauzvardis, 36, was killed at the intersection of West Park Front and Park Drive around 4:05 a.m. on June 6, 2019.

JOLIET, IL — Seven weeks after Joliet Patch chronicled the inability of the Joliet Police Department to locate a 31-year-old Joliet man charged last year in the 2019 pedestrian death of Alex Dauzvardis, authorities in Will County have captured 31-year-old Samuel Byrd.
Will County Jail logs indicate that sheriff's deputies booked Byrd into the county detention facility on Wednesday morning, which is an entire year after the Will County State's Attorney Jim Glasgow's Office convinced a grand jury to issue nine felony charges against the motorist accused of hitting and killing Dauzvardis, a 36-year-old Joliet resident.
Bail remains set at $500,000 for Byrd, who had been living in the 600 block of Ida Street, which is just a few blocks away from where the crash occurred.
