Joliet police say the owner did not give permission to anyone else to take his vehicle.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department arrested a 39-year-old resident on Sunday evening in connection with a stolen vehicle case on the city's west side.
According to police spokesman Dwayne English, at 5:15 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1400 block of Clara Avenue for a stolen motor vehicle. The officers found that a man later identified as Daniel Madlock may have stolen the
resident’s Hyundai Accent that was locked and parked in the driveway after possibly stealing the keys from the owner’s coat, English said.
Officers were initially unable to locate the vehicle, and the owner did not give permission to anyone else to take his vehicle, English said.

Officers were called back to the residence on Clara Avenue at 6:40 p.m. that same evening after learning that Madlock had driven the vehicle back to the residence and was confronted by the owner, according to police.
Following questioning, English said Madlock admitted to taking the vehicle without the owner’s permission, and he was placed into custody without incident. He was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.
