JOLIET, IL — As the Illinois Department of Transportation continues to close the Jackson Street Bridge for technology upgrades, major repairs will begin in two weeks for the Cass Street Bridge.

The repairs begin March 28 and should last about a month. Work on the Jackson Street Bridge is also expected to finish in late April.

Although the Cass Street Bridge will not be closed down, traffic will be reduced from three lanes to one lane. The project consists of repairs to the bridge deck and structural steel that are expected to be completed in about a month, IDOT officials said.
