Catrinas Mex: Authentic Mexican Restaurant No Longer Open

JOLIET, IL — The Catrinas Mex Real Mexican Food sit-down restaurant opened in the fall of 2018 at the site of the legendary Olde Keg pizzeria in downtown Joliet, but now the property is being overrun by pesky weeds.

There's a broken window along Jackson Street. A sign in the entrance door along Ottawa Street indicates: "CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE."

The Catrinas Mex Facebook page has not been updated since May 10.

At that time, Catrinas Mex was closed Mondays, and open 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays.

Catrinas Mex, 20 West Jackson St., had 314 Google Reviews, averaging 4.4 stars out of 5 stars.

The most recent Google Reviews were glowing, giving Catrinas Mex 5 stars.
