The Chalkboard On Plainfield Road Is Closing After 39 Years

CREST HILL, IL — One of the best known businesses along Plainfield Road is closing soon. The Chalkboard announced it is shutting down all three stores. Besides Crest Hill, its other businesses are in Aurora and Downers Grove.

"After 39 years we are sad to say good-bye!" The Chalkboard posted on Facebook. "It was our calling and mission to provide our customers with the best selection of educational materials, games and toys for classrooms and home."

The Chalkboard customers were informed there is now a 50-percent to 70-percent off store-wide sale and "limited stock on hand. All sales final."

The Chalkboard's Facebook page did not list a final date of business yet.

According to the business, The Crest Hill store at 2110 Plainfield Road is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and closed on Sundays.
