Checkers Closes This Joliet Location

JOLIET, IL - A fast-food hamburger and french fry restaurant on Joliet's east side is no more. On Thursday, Joliet Patch found blue tarp over the Checkers signs as well as plywood covering the windows at 441 E. Cass St.

The east side Checkers was across the street from an Auto Zone shop, near Collins Street.

Checkers had operated two locations in Joliet. The other is on Joliet's west side near the intersection of West Jefferson Street and Larkin Avenue, by the Circle K gas station.

Patch called the Checkers on Jefferson Street on Thursday afternoon and that restaurant remains open. Its address is 1805 W. Jefferson St.

Checkers marks the second fast-food restaurant in recent months to close in that general area. The KFC/Taco Bell on Collins Street also went out of business.
