Child, 6, Shot In Crest Hill: Police

Police said the shooting appears to be a targeted incident.

CREST HILL, IL — A 6-year-old child was shot Wednesday evening in what Crest Hill police are calling a targeted shooting. Around 5:15 p.m., Crest Hill Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 1400 block of Pioneer Road.

The child, who was shot while they were a passenger in a vehicle, was taken to Ascension Saint Joseph Medical Center with a gunshot wound, and is in stable condition, police said.

Investigators believe the shooting was targeted and not random.
