City Square 95 Percent Done, Dome Of Unity's Arrival In Joliet Just Weeks Away: Photo Gallery
Joliet Patch visited the city of Joliet's new City Square on Monday. It's the biggest project tackled by Mayor Terry D'Arcy during his term.

JOLIET, IL — In less than one month, Joliet's new City Square will be unveiled, and thousands of people can gather in downtown Joliet to celebrate the new city space across from the 100-year-old Rialto Square Theatre.
Joliet Patch visited the City Square on Monday morning after covering a triple murder case at the Will County Courthouse. Contractors explained that the City Square is now about 95 percent finished. The next major milestone event for the City Square is the arrival of California-based artist Sijia Chen's "Dome of Unity."
The Dome of Unity sculpture will be the signature piece of artwork for the City Square. Last August, Joliet Patch reported that the Dome of Unity will not cost more than $197,000 in taxpayer funds from the city of Joliet.
