Cocaine Dealing Suspect Can't Outrun Joliet Police: Cops

Joliet police say officers recovered several packages from Dontra Loggins, 39, containing suspected crack cocaine.

JOLIET, IL — Bail for 39-year-old Lois Place apartments resident Dontra Loggins has been set at $600,000 following Friday's late night arrest by Joliet police in connection with allegations of dealing crack cocaine on multiple occasions.

Loggins is now in the Will County Jail facing charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, delivery of a controlled substance, obstructing a peace officer, resisting a peace a officer and a Will County arrest warrant.

On Sept. 30, Joliet police tried to pull over Loggins' vehicle around 11:30 p.m. for a stop sign violation in the 500 block of Liberty Avenue and Loggins ran from his car, police reports show.

Officers chased after him and caught up with the driver a short distance away.

"Following a brief struggle, officers were able to place the driver into custody," police spokesman Dwayne English noted.

Officers said Loggins had been carrying a bag while fleeing.

"Officers searched the area nearby where Loggins had been fleeing at which time they recovered several individual packages containing suspected crack cocaine," English announced.

At the time of the arrest, Joliet police learned that Loggins also held two arrest warrants, and he was identified in an additional case in which an arrest warrant was secured for Loggins for delivery of a controlled substance on Sept. 19.

Loggins also held an arrest warrant from Livingston County for unlawful delivery of dangerous drugs, Joliet police reported.

Following Friday night's arrest, Loggins' vehicle was towed from the scene.
