JOLIET, IL - During the summer of 2017, one of the biggest proposals facing the city of Joliet concerned the fate of Hawk Auto. Would Hawk fly the coop and land in the village of Plainfield? However, Mayor Bob O'Dekirk and the Joliet City Council were adamant that they did not want to lose Hawk to another community.

In August 2017, Joliet Patch reported the Joliet Park District worked out an agreement to sell nearly eight acres at its 18-hole Wedgewood Golf Course. The city of Joliet parcel at the northwest corner of Caton Farm Road and Route 59 would be sold to Tri-State Land Partners for approximately $4.5 million.

Joliet Patch reported at the time that the money from the real estate transaction would help Joliet's Park District make other upgrades and improvements to the 18-hole golf course.

Now it's 2019 and over the past few weeks, heavy machinery and construction equipment have been going to town erecting several large concrete walls for the future Hawk Auto dealerships.

Originally, Hawk said it would move its Subaru autos from West Jefferson Street to the new location planned for Route 59 and Caton Farm Road. However, a December 2017 article in the Joliet Herald-News indicated Hawk had switched gears and was now planning to instead move its Volkswagens and Mazdas.
