Congressman Bobby Rush Endorses NorthPoint For Joliet
The long-time member of Congress issued his statement on Thursday. Did you expect this?

JOLIET, IL —Illinois Congressman Bobby Rush rarely offers his opinion about city of Joliet construction projects, but on Thursday afternoon the Democratic congressman issued a statement announcing his strong support for Joliet's proposed Compass Business Park, which is commonly known as NorthPoint.
According to Rush, "the $1.2 billion investment in his district will serve as a major asset for the community and create economic opportunity throughout the region.
"Compass Business Park is critical in making a lasting investment that will strengthen our communities and enable residents throughout the 1st District to take advantage of employment and career opportunities that will enhance their quality of life," Rush's statement read.

The city of Joliet's Plan Commission, an advisory panel, is set to review the NorthPoint development plans at a special meeting set for 4 p.m. on Feb. 24.
According to his congressional staff, Rush urges Joliet's City Council "to partner with NorthPoint Development and move forward with the proposal calling for the city to annex 1,300 acres of land that would enable the distribution center and light manufacturing facility to become a reality."

NorthPoint is expected to generate more than $2 billion in tax revenue for local and state government over the next two decades and 1,600 union construction jobs during the project, Rush touted.
