JOLIET, IL – Sewer work will close a portion of McDonough St. beginning Monday and will keep the street closed for the next two weeks as part of the Rock Run Interceptor Rehabilitation Project, the city announced on Sunday.
McDonough St. will be closed between Airport Dr. and Houbolt Rd. and drivers will be detoured to W. Jefferson St. around the Joliet Regional Airport. The project includes the installation of nearly 13,700 linear feet of cured-in-place pipelining and city officials indicated that the work will restore the structural integrity of the sanitary sewer interceptor and will reduce the amount of rainwater entering the sanitary system. The Rock Run project is scheduled to be completed in July with exception of the work near the I&M Canal which is slated to be completed this fall.
Drivers can expect to experience delays near the areas where construction is taking place and are to use extreme caution while in the vicinity of the work zone.
