Construction Worker Dies After Fall in Crest Hill

CREST HILL, IL — A 42-year-old construction worker died after a fall in Crest Hill Sunday morning.

Fernando V. Gamez, 42, of Sioux City, Iowa, was pronounced dead at 10:51 a.m. Sunday at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center Emergency Room, according to Will County Coroner Patrick K. O’Neil.

Gamez was working in the 21000 block of Division St. in Crest Hill when he fell from an unknown height.

The Crest Hill Police Department and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the death.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday. The final cause and manner of death will be determined at a later date pending autopsy, toxicological and police reports.
