Man Beat Wife, Possibly Hurt Son: Cops
A Joliet man has been arrested for beating his wife and is being investigated for possibly injuring his 9-year-old child, Joliet Police Cmdr. Rich Demick said.
Duschaun Lindsey Neal, 36, is accused of blackening his wife's eye and striking the side of her head in an argument that occurred at about 7 a.m. Saturday, Demick said.
The victim, who has an order of protection against Neal, sought treatment for her injuries at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center at about 5 p.m. Sunday, and personnel there called the police, he said.

The woman agreed to press charges against Neal and told officers that her husband, who stands 6-feet-2 and weighs 325 pounds, had also injured their son, Demick said. She said she didn't call the police Saturday because Neal had threatened her, he said.
Officers took Neal into custody at the family's house in the 300 block of Walnut and noted that the child in question appeared to have a sprained ankle, he said. The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services has been called in to investigate.

Under the order of protection, Neal was not to have any contact with his wife. The order was to expire Tuesday.
Neal was charged with felony domestic battery, aggravated battery of a child and three counts of violation of an order of protection. He's being held in the Will County jail in lieu of $500,000 bond.
Jail records of Neal's previous criminal record, which are not complete, show he was arrested on Jan. 19 for violating the order of protection, on Nov. 14, 2012, for aggravated battery and resisting/obstructing a peace officer, and on Aug. 9, 2011, for aggravated battery.
Break-Up Fight Leads to Stabbing
A Joliet woman, apparently angered that her boyfriend wanted to break up with her, stabbed him in the arm Friday with a kitchen knife, Demick said.
Yalonda Lafaye Lee, 36, 123 Logan Ave., was charged with felony aggravated domestic battery when the 12:15 p.m. fight the couple were having over ending their relationship prompted Lee to stab the victim in the left bicep, Demick said.
The man went to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center to have his injury treated and police were notified, he said.
Lee is being held in the Will County jail in lieu of $25,000 bond. According to jail records, which are incomplete, Lee was arrested for driving with a suspended/revoked license in March 2012 and for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a firearm with an expired FOID card in June 2008.
Man Hit by Car, Seriously Injured
A Joliet man is being treated for life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car at Third Avenue and Richards Street, Demick said.
The 66-year-old victim, who was dressed completely in black, was walking westbound across Richards at about 6 p.m. Sunday when he was struck, he said. The driver of the vehicle stopped and remained at the scene.
The victim was taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center for a head injury, broken hip and leg, and other injuries, Demick said.
No charges have been filed in the case. Police are reconstructing the accident scene to determine exactly what happened, Demick said.
