SHOREWOOD, IL - In 2017, Joliet resident Linda Meister was arrested and convicted of Will County retail theft charges. She spent nearly five months in Will County's Jail as a result of her crime. This week, the 60-year-old Cora Street woman was arrested by Shorewood Police officers at the Target store near Route 59 on two felony charges of retail theft.

Her latest criminal complaint states that Meister "knowingly took possession of any merchandise offered for sale" at the Target located at 1111 Brookforest Ave., "being nail polish with the intention to deprive the merchant permanently of the possession, use or benefit of such merchandise without paying the full retail value of such merchandise."

The second retail theft charge accuses Meister of stealing an "Omron medical device."

The Will County State's Attorney's Office notes that prosecutors are seeking an enhanced charge, a Class 4 felony, against the Joliet woman because of her 2017 criminal conviction for retail theft.

This week, Meister was given an exceptionally high bail, $75,000, and she remains locked away from society, unable to come up with 10 percent to post as bond, four days later.
