Coronavirus At New Will County Courthouse: Paper

The new Will County Courthouse opened Monday, Nov. 2. Now, several of the courthouse sheriff's deputies are recovering from the coronavirus.

JOLIET, IL — At least four employees of the Will County Sheriff's Office who are assigned to the new Will County Courthouse that opened last week are recovering from the coronavirus illness, according to The Joliet Herald-News, Joliet's print newspaper.

The paper reported the sheriff's officials worked in the holding area for prisoners at the new courthouse building and that the holding area for inmates has been temporarily shutdown. According to the Herald-News article, Will County's trial court services director Roger Holland would not disclose the number of coronavirus cases involving court staff, but the paper quoted Holland as saying, "We've experienced COVID cases."
