Coroner Candidate, Khan Will Build A New State-Of-The Art Morgue

Regarding morgue expansion in Will County, I will build a new state-of-the art morgue which will be a center of excellence for advance forensic capabilities including cranial-facial recognition, DNA analysis, ballistics testing, digital evidence and fingerprint analysis. The focus will be on completing death investigations in the least amount of time possible, from 90 days to 48 hours. It will be a much larger facility with modern equipment and supplies that can hold up to 100 cadavers.

With the growing pandemic, we must be prepared for mass fatalities because Covid related deaths are multiplying by thousands, not hundreds. It will be worse when flu season kicks in this winter. We need to be realistic and keep the future in consideration. A real strong vaccine takes a decade to go through research and trial phases. History is full of new vaccines every decade. Reducing a decade into to 4 years to produce a vaccine is hit-or-miss.

As mentioned in my campaign, I will keep death investigations science-based, not political. Unlike previous Coroner, I am not going to delay death investigations to a year or dig graves to change death certificates. A Coroner’s office is not supposed to be influenced by any outside parties because the Coroner itself has the highest authority in the county when it comes to death investigations.

I am a strong supporter of justice and equality. I have the utmost respect for law enforcement officials but when they violate public trust, the law must be equally applied to them as it’s to common people. As your Coroner, I will not allow the Blue Wall of Silence to supersede our Constitution. In the eyes of the law everyone is equal, and nobody is above it.
