Counterfeit Cash Used To Buy Dog: Joliet Police

A resident of Glenwood, Latrice White, 35, was booked into the Will County Jail by Joliet police on felony forgery charges.

JOLIET, IL — After spending 24 hours in the Will County Jail, a 35-year-old Glenwood woman accused of using of counterfeit cash to buy a dog in Joliet is no longer in custody.

On Wednesday evening, Latrice White was let out of the Will County Jail after posting 10 percent of her $1,000 bail, jail logs show. Joliet police arrested White on a felony charge of forgery.

Shortly before 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Joliet police were called to the 6600 block of Langsford Drive to provide a citizen standby.

"Officers learned that White had arrived at the residence to pay the resident to take possession of a dog," police spokesman Dwayne English announced.

According to police reports, White and the resident were engaged in a prior dispute over the possession of the dog.

"During the transaction, officers determined that White attempted to pay for the dog using counterfeit United States currency. White admitted to officers that she was aware that a portion of the money she had intended to pay for the dog was counterfeit," English noted.
